BOOK PRESENTATION IN MATENADARAN-GANDZASAR SCIENTIFIC CULTURAL CENTER. DONATION TO THE BRANCH OF MASHTOTS MATENADARAN, AWARDING CEREMONY

    On April 18, at the Matenadaran-Gandzasar scientific-cultural center, took place the presentation of Head of the Department of Preservation and Scientific Processing of Archival Papers, Candidate of History Armen Malkhasyan's book "The Artsakh-Utik School of the Armenian Book Cover" and the Ancient Armenian text of chronicle translated into Modern Armenian book of Stepanos Yerets's "Hangitagirq". The presentation were attended by Archbishop of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Pargev Martirosyan, Minister of Education, Science And Sport of AR Narine Aghabalyan, Minister of Culture,Youth Affairs and Tourism of AR Sergey Shahverdyan, President of the Union of Writers of Artsakh Vardan Hakobyan, Delegation of the Tehran Peria Educational Union, professorial and teaching staff of Artsakh State University, clergymen, students and other guests.
 The presentation started with blessings by the Archbishop of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Pargev Martirosyan.
  Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan delivered an opening speech. Director of Matenadaran underlined that such events are very important for Artsakh as they create a scientific environment and atmosphere, which can radically change the notion of foreigners about Artsakh. “The foreigners should clearly understand that the people of Artsakh not only struggle for their right to self-determination, but also actively engage in scientific and cultural activities," said the Matenadaran’s Director. Then, the Minister of Education, Science and Sport and the Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh made speeches.
  The speeches of the Ministers were followed by the report of Armen Malkhasyan, the author of the book "The Artsakh-Utik School of the Armenian Book Cover". The latter made an interesting and meaningful lecture on the Artsakh-Utik school of the Armenian Book Cover.
 The book was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of AR. Based on the collection of manuscripts of Yerevan’s Matenadaran, in the book are presented the Artsakh-Utik school of the Armenian Book Cover, and leather samples of the second half of the 18th century.
The book is intended for historians, manuscript experts, epigraphists, art critics and public readers.
 
The presentation of the book "Artsakh-Utik School of the Armenian Book Cover" was immediately followed by the presentation of Stepanos Yerets (Vicar) Hazarjribetsi’s book "Hangitagirq" the Ancient Armenian text of chronicle translated into Modern Armenian. The text was published based on Jugha's No. 654 manuscript. Tamara Minasyan and Lusine Tumanyan, senior researchers at Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran, have been prepared the text and translated into Modern Armenian. The preface was written by Prof. Dr. Vahan Bayburdyan, and annotations by Vahan Bayburdyan and senior researcher at Matenadaran, Iranian expert Hasmik Kirakosyan.
  The book was published in Tehran's “Alik” Publishing House at the initiative of the Peria Educational Union. Matenadaran’s Senior Researcher Tamara Minasyan and Gaspar Amirkhanyan, the member of Tehran's Peria Educational Union and responsible for the book publishing, told the participants about the book.
  Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan received a letter of gratitude from Teheran Peria Educational Union for organizing the presentations of book in Yerevan and Artsakh.
  After the book presentation, architect Stepan Nalbandyan donated to the Matenadaran-Gandzasar Scientific-Cultural Center all the numbers of the "Karabakh" literary-social newspaper published in Shoushi in 1911-1912, two ancient books published in Shoushi and a handwriting document of 1912.
Then the awarding ceremony was held for the people who have supported the work of the Matenadaran-Gandzasar Scientific-Cultural Center. Matenadaran’s Director Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan handed "Matenadaran" Commemorative Medal to Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Minister of Education, Science and Sport of AR Narine Aghabalyan for the great support provided to the works of Matenadaran-Gandzasar Scientific-Cultural Center, letters of gratitude to the donationist Stepan Nalbandyan, Ganzasar's Patriarch Father Sahak Shakaryan, and Gaspar Amirkhanyan, responsible for the publishing of Stepanos Yerets (Vicar) Hazarjribetsi’s Book "Hangitagirq" the Ancient Armenian text of chronicle translated into Modern Armenian.
Composer, pianist Simon Sargsyan ended the event with a beautiful piano concert.
