  The 3rd international conference "Readings of Narekatsi: Treasures and Odes" launched at the conference hall of the Matenadaran after Mesrop Mashtots.

  The participants of the conference were welcomed by the Acting Director of the Mashtots Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan. In his speech he noted that “Readings of Narekatsi’’ are being organized for the third consecutive year. V. Ter-Ghevondyan emphasized: "It was important to maintain the continuity and periodicity of the “Readings” initiated by Hrachya Tamrazyan in 2015, the year when Pope Francis proclaimed Grigor Narekatsi as the Doctor of the Universal Church."
  Dean of the Department of Theology at the Yerevan State University Bishop Anushavan Zhamkochyan welcomed the participants of the conference and conveyed the Pontifical Message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
  The opening ceremony had also a cultural part. "LUYS" Vocal Quintet and singer Hasmik Baghdasaryan performed Armenian spiritual songs.
  Within the framework of the conference, the following books were presented:
-    Hrachya Tamrazyan, Grigor Narekatsi and the School of Narek (Book G);
-    Abraham Terian, The Festal Works of St. Gregory of Narek: Annotated Translation of the Odes, Litanies, and Encomia;
-    Valda Salmina, Grigor Narekatsi, Book of Lamentation (Latvian translation of selected segments).
  The papers of the conference were dedicated to St. Grigor Narekatsi's Odes’ and Litanies signification and sources (Jean-Pierre Mahé, The Adjective Scarlet in Narekatsi's Odes: A Mythical Color; Abraham Terian, The Philօnic Predictions of Several Images of Narek: Examples from Odes, Litanies, and Encomia), the works of new texts (Haig Utidjian, To the New Edition of Odes of St. Gregory of Narek), the ritual practice (Vardan Devrikyan, Narekatsi's Odes and Litanies Written by the Dictations of the Church Calendar”), newly discovered encoded biographical facts (Hrachik Mirzoyan, When Was Grigor Narekatsi Born, or One Cryptographic Decoding), commentary methods (Arusyak Tamrazyan, The Symbols of the Commentary in the Work of Grigor Narekatsi: The Interpretation of "Who Is This), analysis of some parts of the “Book of Lamentation” (Theo Maarten Van Lint, The Condemnation and Restoration of Man in Chapters 39 and 40).
  The conference is supported by the “Mashtots” Foundation.
