CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO SIRARPIE DER-NERSESSYAN’S 120TH BIRTHDAY WAS HELD AT MATENADARAN

  Youth Conference was held on December 1-3 in Mashtots Matenadaran (see the program), which was dedicated to the renowned researcher, armenologist, byzantinologist Sirarpie Der Nersessian’s 120th birthday. During the opening of conference, the participants were welcomed by the Acting Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondian, who highlighted the role of the middle and older generations for supporting the youth and sharing the experience. Since it was a youth conference, he also mentioned the role of Matenadaran’s late director Hrachya Tamrazyan in supporting the youth in Matenadaran and in the scientific sphere.
  About 40 reports were presented during the conference, which included the spheres of Manuscript Studies, Source Science, History of the Armenian Language, History of the Armenian literature, Art History, Oriental Studies, and Religion Studies. The reports were made by young scientists of the Matenadaran, the Yerevan State University, the University of Fine Arts and Vanadzor State University. There were also participants from the Saint Petersburg State University and the University of Bologna.
  The conference was summarized by the Doctor of Art History, Professor Hravard Hacopian, who together with other senior colleagues highly appreciated the reports of young scientists, and, in conclusion, told some interesting episodes about his personal contacts with Sirarpie Der Nersessian.
