THE BOOK GRIGOR NAREKATSI IN ARMENIAN MINIATURE ART IS PUBLISHED

Grigor Narekatsi in Armenian Miniature Art։ Album/Research
S. Manukyan, D. Ghazaryan, Yerevan, NAIRI Publishing House, 2016, 120 p.

The presentation of the book Grigor Narekatsi in Armenian Miniature Art was held at Mashtots Matenadaran on October 28-29, 2016 during the second international conference "Readings of Narekatsi". The album/research was authored by candidates in Art Sciences Seyranush Manukyan and Davit Ghazaryan. The latter also is an employee of Matenadaran. The book presents images of Grigor Narekatsi, the greatest medieval Armenian poet and famous spiritual figure, illustrated in Armenian miniature art. The copies of almost all the hitherto known miniatures depicting Narekatsi are gathered in the book; most of the miniatures are published for the first time. Seyranush Manukyan introduced Grigor Narekatsi’s Image in Armenian Books and David Ghazaryan presented Grigor  Narekatsi in Ribbon Artistic Decorations. In this 120-page book, the illustrations constitute a separate section where the images of Narekatsi in manuscripts are displayed.
The book is dedicated to the memory of famous scientist and scholar in the sphere of Narekology Hrachya Tamrazyan. It was published as part of the program Narekatsi of Independence and was implemented by the Union of Young Researchers of Matenadaran NGO in the frameworks of the grant program provided to NGOs by the staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia and the contest announced by the Youth Foundation of Armenia.
