CIS INTER-PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY’S LITERARY PRIZE NAMED AFTER CHINGHIZ AITMATOV WAS AWARDED TO HRACHYA TAMRAZYAN

CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly’s literary prizewinner (named after Chinghiz Aitmatov) became the Armenian statesman, poet, philologist-translator, member of the Union of Soviet Writers and director of Scientific Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts named after Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran Hrachya Tamrazyan.
The award handed out the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly’s Chairman Valentina Matviyenko and the Chairman of Parliament of Kyrgyz Republic Asylbek Jeenbekov. In his welcoming speech, Chairman of Parliament of Kyrgyz Republic Asylbek Jeenbekov praised Hrachya Tamrazyan’s poetry, his scientific and translation activities. "Your works are translated into several languages; you also translated the works of many famous poets. Chinghiz Aitmatov's award testifies to the high level of your work. I am confident that you will still rejoice us with your creations that strengthen the friendship between peoples" said Asylbek Jeenbekov.
This important award is an initiative of the Parliament of Kyrgyz Republic. In May 2013, the Standing Commission of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport in Tambov during the session first discussed the question about Inter-parliamentary Assembly’s award named after Chinghiz Aitmatov to the CIS member-countries.
The award is presented annually to nominate one candidacy from the CIS member-countries. Annually, only one person can become a winner.
The awarding ceremony took place on November 27 during the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly’s session in Tavrida Palace, St. Petersburg.
On the same day, at midday a solemn volley from St. Petersburg’s main weapon made Hrachya Tamrazyan.
