EXHIBITION IN LIVORNO

On May 21, in the Central Exhibition Hall of La Fortezza Nuova of Livorno, Italy, was opened the exhibition by epigram “Armenia. dal genocidio alla rinascita culturale” (Armenia. from Genocide till the cultural revival),  devoted to the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian culture in 1915. Note that the Armenian community played a significant role in the history of Livorno in the 17-18th centuries. The works of exhibition’s organization coordinated Livorno’s Municipality Council member Serena Simoncini and Senior Research Fellow of the Matenadaran Nazeni Gharibyan.
The exhibition is accompanied by daily meetings during which the participants presented new publications and fragments of films on different topics related to Armenia and Armenian culture. Especially are memorable the reports of Professor of Armenian Studies at the University of Pisa Alessandro Orengo, Director of State Archives of Livorno Massimo Sanakore, representative of the Armenian Patriarch of Livorno, Professor Janjacomo Panesa, Doctor of Art History Nazeni Gharibyan and historian Elizabeth Tajiryan and performances of Henri Verneuil “Mayrig” (Mother) book’s Italian version translator Letícia Leonardi, “Il mercanto armeno” (the Armenian merchant) novel’s author Massimo Gelardi, “Now” documentary-fiction video’s author Leonardo Filasto.
The exhibition continued until May 28 and on the occasion of this exhibition was published a succinct catalog.
