NEW PUBLICATION

DAVID THE INVINCIBLE, Commentary on Porphyry’s Isagoge, Old Armenian Text with the Greek Original, an English Translation, Introduction and Notes, by Gohar Muradyan (Philosophia antiqua, vol. 137, Davidis opera, vol. 3), Leiden-Boston: Brill, 2014
http://www.brill.com/products/book/david-invincibles-commentary-porphyrys-isagoge

The book contains the new critical edition of the Armenian version of one the philosophical writings by David the Invincible, the "Commentary on Porphyry's Introduction to Aristotle's Categories". This version lacks about one fourth of the Greek original. Seven manuscripts, five of Matenadaran and two of the Paris National Library have been collated with S. Arevshatyan's edition (Yerevan, 1976)  (as a whole 50 manuscripts have been studied), and different readings confirmed by the Greek original are inserted into the text. The book also contains the parallel English translation of the Armenian version and the Greek original copied from Busse's edition of 1904, slightly revised (some readings from the critical apparatus that are confirmed by the Armenian version are inserted into the main text). The readings of the Greek text which differ from the Armenian version are mentioned in the footnotes to the English translation, while the endnotes represent the translation of the Greek passages which have no equivalents in the Armenian text.
The Appendices of the book contain marginal scholia found in some Armenian manuscripts and Glossaries of Armenian and Greek terms and their English equivalents.
