THE MATENADARAN PUBLISHED THE 19TH VOLUME OF THE SERIES “MATENAGIRK HAYOTS”
The Matenadaran after Mesrop Mashtots published the 19th volume of the series “Matenagirk Hayots”. In this volume is presented the “Datastanagirk Hayots” (The Code of Laws) of Mkhitar Gosh (one of the famous people of Medieval Armenian Bibliography). In the series “Matenagirk Hayots” is foreseen to publish two books devoted to the heritage of Mkhitar Gosh. In the published volume at the first time the three publications of “Datastanagirk” (The Code of Laws) are presented together for the public. Till now they were published separately, the first and third editions were published by diligence of Khosrov Torosyan in 1975 and the second edition was published earlier in 1884 by diligence of Vahan Bastamtsyan (the abbot of St. Gayane’s Monastery). In preface of the 19th volume are presented Mkhitar Gosh and his place in Armenian Bibliography. In the second book devoted to the heritage of Mkhitar Gosh will be included the following compositions: “Commentary of Jeremiah’s Prophecy” which will be published the first time, and also the parables will be republished; “The Epistle to the Georgians”; “The Behavior of Khosrow Nor witness”; “Chronology”; “Prayers” and “Admonitions”. About each work will be more detailed reflection in each preface in the published volume. This volume’s editor of the series “Matenagirk Hayots” is Azat Bozoyan, senior research fellow of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and the Art Editor, who also created the indexes, is Gurgen Gasparyan, Director’s Advisor of Matenadaran on high technologies and publishing, Coordinator of the series. The sponsor for the volume’s preparing and publishing was “Galouste Gulbenkian” Foundation.
