As a result of cooperation between the International Relations Department of Matenadaran and partner universities within the framework of the EU ''Erasmus +'' program for young researchers and PhD students of Matenadaran, exchange programs at the following universities are available: Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), University of Tuscia, University Bologna, three Universities of Rome (Italy). Particularly, the Catholic University of Louvain and Matenadaran have developed an exchange project for lecturers, young scholars and PhD students. Within the framework of this partnership, in the last 4-5 years at least 6 researchers of Matenadaran have delivered lectures at the Catholic University of Louvain and about 10 young scholars and PhD students have participated in educational courses.

In April-May 2019, three researchers of Matenadaran, Nazeni Gharibyan, Lilit Hovsepyan, and Lusine Sargsyan, left for Belgium to give lectures at the Catholic University Louvain. They have presented the results of their recent studies to European students. Nazeni Gharibyan's lecture was devoted to the structure and functional significance of the Early Medieval Armenian and Georgian gavits (narthexes), as well as to the architectural terms and their meanings in the Armenian Bible. Lilit Hovsepyan delivered a lecture on the Narek School, the tradition of interpreting the Song of Songs, and the connection of its allegorical symbols with medieval spiritual and secular poetry. Lusine Sargsyan presented the art of Miniaturist Avag (the system of illustrating the Old and New Testaments) and gave a lecture on the Armenian manuscripts in Romania.
The bilateral cooperation between Matenadaran and the Catholic University of Louvain continues. In the coming days, Matenadaran will host Professor Johannes Den Heijer. There will be an additional announcement about the event.
