ACCOMPANIED BY THE DIRECTOR OF THE MATENADARAN, RA MINISTER OF CULTURE AND DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER OF RA THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNESCO AUDREY AZOULAY TOURED THE MATENADARAN

 
  On October 11 at 16:30, in the Mashtots Matenadaran held the exhibition "Armenia-France: centuries-old ties". Director-General of the UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, RA Minister of Culture Lilit Makunts, Deputy Foreign Minister of RA Ashot Hovakimyan, and Secretary-General of the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO Vahram Kazhoyan participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Accompanied by the Director of the Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan, the Director-General of the UNESCO toured the Matenadaran’s museum complex and scientific building. The exhibition is organized by French-Armenian historian armenologist Armen Claude Moutafian. The exhibition presents manuscripts, antique books from Matenadaran’s funds, as well as archival documents, maps and photographs from Armen Claude Moutafian’s personal collection, that reflect the Armenian-French historical-cultural relations dating back centuries. On the occasion of the summit of La Francophonie in Armenia, the Matenadaran with the patronage of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) has published a bilingual book about the exhibition and a French album-study dedicated to the Armenian miniature painting.
