BOOKS PRESENTATION AND SUMMARY OF CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF LEVON KHACHIKIAN

 
   Today, a plenary session of the international conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding director of the Matenadaran, academician Levon Khachikyan took place at Mashtots Matenadaran conference hall. The session was presided over by the Director of Matenadaran, Doctor of Historical Sciences Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan. During the plenary session the international conference summarized. Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan, Matenadaran's Head of the Depositories Gevorg Ter-Vardanyan, Doctor of Arts, Professor Hravard Hakobyan, Matenadaran's Head of the Department of Study of History of Natural and Medical Sciences Stella Vardanyan, Foreign Member of the National Academy of Sciences of RA Claude-Armen Mutafian delivered speeches. At the end of the conference took place a presentation of books.
  1. Memoirs of Armenian Manuscripts, XIV century, (part 1), compilers are L. Khachikyan, A. Matevosyan, A. Ghazarosyan, Yerevan, "Nairi" Publishing House, 2018, 644 pages.
   The collection includes the memoirs of Armenian manuscripts written in 1301-1325, some of which were published by L. Khachikian (1918-1982) in the book "Memoirs of Armenian Manuscripts of the 14th century" (1950), the other part was completed by A. Matevosyan (1922-2004) and A. Ghazarosyan.
 The published memoirs are an important source for the history of the Armenian people, as well as for philological studies.
The last edition of the Armenian memoirs was published in the Matenadaran, 30 years ago, in the series "Materials of History of the Armenian People".
 The book was presented by Deputy Director of the Matenadaran on scientific work, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Editor of the book K. Matevosyan and one of the authors of the book Arpenik Ghazarosyan.
  2. The book "The Iconography of the Oskanian Bible in the European Art Context" has been published with diligence of Nazeni Gharibyan and Ani Sahakyan (Yerevan, "Antares", 2018-512 pages, English translation by Sona Baloyan, Professional Advice by Ani Yenokyan). The bilingual album-book is dedicated to the first Armenian printed Bible’s illustrations published by Voskan Yerevantsi. All 160 thematic engravings presented for the first time in high quality are accompanied by exemplary paintings for the composition, as well as by a thorough analysis of historical and artistic. These thematic images are of exceptional significance in the works of the most famous European painters and engravers of the 15th-17th centuries.  The iconographic, stylistic, and technical integrity of the latter, with artistic references and innovations of creativity in the works of former masters, presents the concentrated panoramic view of Western-Christian art of the era.
  The book was presented by the author, RA Deputy Minister of Culture, Senior Researcher of Matenadaran Nazeni Gharibyan.
  3. The "Young Researchers Association of Matenadaran" NGO has published the collection of reports of “The 3rd Youth Conference" (Yerevan, 2018, "Armav" publishing house). Organization of the conference and publication of materials is with the financial support of  the SCS of RA. Editorial Board of the collection, Doctor of Historical Sciences Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan, Doctor of Historical Sciences Karen Matevosyan, Doctor of Historical Sciences Gevorg Ter-Vardanyan, Doctor of Philology Gohar Muradyan, PhD of Historical Sciences Vahe Torosyan, PhD of Philology Khachik Harutyunyan. Editing of English materials by Gohar Topchyan.


   The published materials deal with different spheres of Armenian studies such as source studies, manuscript, historiography, art criticism, linguistics, theology and so on.
